Project Scope: RSS’s Special Projects Division mobilized crews, trucks, and equipment immediately after Hurricane Wilma hit south Florida. We set up an emergency response office and coordinated with Navy personnel to ensure quick, temporary steps were taken to keep critical building interiors dry for ongoing defense operations.
Operational readiness is a top priority at Naval Air Station Key West as it support its national security mission for the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Air National Guard, and Army National Guard Units.
After evaluation of the damage, we prioritized various hangar, maintenance, office, and lodging facilities for either repair or total replacement of roofs. From October through the following March, RSS repaired nearly a hundred roofs on all areas of the base allowing uninterrupted operations throughout.
RSS has also provided extensive emergency roofing repair and replacement after storm damage to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, and the Jackson-Evers International Airport.
